Allison has been riding for 13 years in Southeastern Wisconsin, her roots in hunter/jumpers and Dressage. She found Pony Club 11 years ago and progressed to her B rating. She now enjoys teaching fellow pony clubbers and being active on a regional bases with clinics and ratings. She represented our region in the National Youth Congress in 2005, and was chairperson of the Junior Board for several years. Outside of Pony Club Allison still loves to ride, though time is limited while in school at UW-Milwaukee. Much of her competing was done in the WHJA as a child, but now her passion lies in the progress of training younger horses and riders. She has learned to appreciate the small accomplishments that patience and persistence brings.
This clinic will be free of charge to all RCPC members and we hope to see all of you participate. Up to two rides per person will be scheduled as space allows. The closing date for the clinic is Saturday, December 8th. Please make sure to send in the forms to Kim or bring them to the center by the closing date.

We are excited to have Jennifer Goad coming to give our RCPC kids a clinic. Jenni has given private lessons to several of the kids in our club and they really enjoy her excellent instruction. She helped Kailey quite a bit this summer in preparing her for the eventing shows – remember that your dressage score is really important in eventing!! This clinic will be for flat lessons only, but you are really encouraged to consider riding twice with Jenni as this is a special opportunity to have her teach our club. Registration forms and payments are due no later than Saturday, January 12th and can be sent directly to Kim or dropped off at the center in the “Club”mailbox.

Camp will be D2’s & above. This years clinicians are Sarah Morgan, Kevin Bowie, Claire Harmon, and Deb McKenzie-Willson. All clinicians are level 4 national examiners.
This year camp materials will not be mailed out. Instead, you will need to download below. Please use the following instructions:
Only 60 campers D2 and up will be accepted this year. Applications will be accepted in order of postmark date. In the event the camp is oversubscribed as of a certain date, applicants will be randomly drawn from the complete packets received with that day’s postmark. Once full, remaining applicants will be put on a waiting list and notified as space opens up. Each club needs to provide a sufficient #s of chaperones for the # of members attending (1 chaperone per 4 campers). Since the participants are grouped according to their rating, riding level and age, it is unlikely that club chaperones will only be chaperoning their own club members, but if each club sends a sufficient # of chaperones we will have enough for all the groups.
We have a great group of clinicians again this year and the same great location as last year, so it should be another great camp experience. See you in June!

RCPC is happy to have Susie Taylor back for a mounted clinic this month. Susie is a graduate A pony clubber that currently runs her own business, Taylord Horses, LLC and is currently instructing and training horses in Waunakee, WI at Carriage Ridge Stables. During her competitive career she worked under Eric Dierks as his working student. She now competes with her horse, Wellington, at Third Level in Dressage.
Her credentials are the following: USEA Instructor (Level I), Former USEA/ FEI Intermediate Competitor, Former North American Young Rider, Former U.S. International Intercollegiate Team Member, USPC ‘A’ rated.
I hope you will all take advantage of riding in this clinic with Susie. She is a great local asset.
NOTE from Maureen: Please either email or mail me the attached registration form. I rarely get to the barn to pick them up from the mailbox. I will bring copies of the form to the annual meeting and it will also be on the RCPC web site.

Regional Clinics
The RCPC Equestrian Center will be hosting the Lakeshore Region annual Standards & Ratings Clinic taught by Bunny Hendricks, a Level IV National Examiner on Saturday November 8th, starting promptly at 9:00 am. This clinic is a great opportunity for instructors, DCs, parents and pony clubbers to familiarize themselves with the USPC standards of proficiency through the use of demo riders at the various rating levels. We are looking for 4-5 demo riders per rating level.
Bunny will be staying over and teaching a mounted clinic on Sunday November 9th. Please use the attached form to register as a demo rider and/or register for the mounted clinic on Sunday. Clinic slots will be filled on a first come first served basis. Closing date for clinic registration and demo riders is Sunday November 2nd.
We look forward to seeing you there!

Educational Meetings
Midwest Therapeutic, a therapeutic riding program, will be bringing a horse and child with them to do a demonstration. Here is some information on the program:
Therapeutic riding emphasizes and teaches riding skills taught by North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NARHA) registered instructors. Lessons incorporate life skills and IEP goals in an enjoyable setting. The rider learns how to control the horse, giving them a great sense of accomplishment.
Hippotherapy literally means “treatment with the help of a horse.” Licensed therapists use the horse as a therapy tool. Hippotherapy doesn’t teach riding skills, but uses the movement of the horse to influence the rider’s posture, balance, function, and sensory processing.
The horse’s gait is very similar to a human’s: the length of the stride, number of strides per minute, and the three planes of movement (lateral, anterior/posterior, and up and down.) For some riders, it is the first time they have been able to feel what walking is like.
Feel free to visit their website prior to the demonstration.

Mounted Clinics
As we announced at our recent un-mounted meeting, the November Mounted Clinic will be free of charge to all Racine County Pony Club members as a reward for all of your hard work throughout the year. We were originally scheduled to have Jenny Goad for our November clinic, but she is unable to do the clinic due to unexpected circumstances. So we have arranged to have Susan Taylor come to do our clinic for us on Saturday, November 22nd. Susan is a graduate A Pony Clubber that currently runs her own business, Taylord Horses, LLC and is currently instructing and training horses in Waunakee, WI. at Carriage Ridge Stables.
International Intercollegiate Team Member, USPC ‘A’ rated
I hope you will all take advantage of riding in this clinic with Susie. The first ride is no charge and second rides will be offered on a first come-first serve basis after the closing date. So please do not delay in submitting your registration forms as there will not likely be any openings for late registrations.

Questions in filling out the paperwork? Here’s some helpful tips:
1. Paperwork? I have once again attached all the paperwork needed to be attend Quiz. Please get your paper work to me as soon as possible. I have most of them, but would like to make the teams complete and send in before the deadline which (for our club) is January 30th. Don’t forget 2 Medical Releases.
2. What do I wear? Please make sure everyone has barn safe shoes, their pony club pin (mandatory) warm clothes and I will leave it up to your teams to decide if you want to match, although it looks great if you do. Even if you guys put the same color ribbon, string, clip or style. It gets you into the spirit of being a team.
3. Where do I stay? We are getting rooms at the American Inn in Beaver Dam (920) 356-9000. They have a block of rooms for the Lake Shore Region. When you make your reservation tell them you are attending Quiz and they will give you a better rate.
4. Chaperones? DONT lose/misplace your Chaperon envelope. ( I did last year and almost had a heart attack until I found it) If you are a chaperon, please make sure your team members are watered and fed. They must have four seat belts for transportation from/to barn and indoor phases. If you have made arrangements for unattended club members, please discuss money for meals and rooms among your and the parents.

July 30, 2009 - August 01, 2009
It’s that time of year again when your camp committee is hard at work planning what looks to be another spectacular local summer camp. Our clinicians this year are Jennifer Merrick-Brooks for all the mounted sessions and Marlie Birr for all the unmounted. The dates of the camp are Thursday, July 30 – Saturday, August 1. The last day will once again conclude with a mini event in the afternoon.
Beth, our DC has graciously offered their home and yard for our traditional Friday night meal and all-together fun evening!
Camp forms are available in both Word format as well as a PDF. Please get these filled out and sent in as soon as you can so we can finish up preparations. For all you upper level members, we do plan and hope to have a full group at your level with challenges appropriate to your skills, so please don’t discount this as a camp for only the young riders.
Space will be limited to 16 riders and you are responsible for providing your own mount, but we are also offering the option of auditing the camp and instruction as well.
Hope to see you all there!
